“Commissions” Conference

Commissioning believers as ambassadors for Christ! The original focus of this two day conference was for women ages 13-25. The Lord expanded our tent pegs and added men, women, children and teen guys, too!

This small “church in the hills” of N. India is involved in community outreach, missions, and youth. The group has a hunger for the Lord which creates strong community bonds. It is amazing how effective a “small” community church can be in becoming a Christian history maker. Just as the passion David carried made a difference for Israel, this “David” of today faces the Goliath of cultural beliefs, poverty, and persecution. As a team, our hearts were deeply touched as we ministered to this body of believers.

Lights OUT! The electricity went off for several hours just after worship. Christine spoke with the help of a flashlight and lantern. However, the Lord allowed this setting to create an intimate atmosphere for the topic of how relationship with the Lord defines identity. Team members talked about Godly marriages, tools for studying scripture, and how to live a Godly life.

Christine and Barbara Rodriguez presented a dance/drama to the song, “This is Love.” Within the first few words, people began weeping as God touched their hearts. The last evening, Christine spoke on a “Lifestyle of Purity.” Rather than a list of do’s and don’ts, people gained insight on the spiritual ramifications of our choices and why God asks us to live pure lives. In addition, they became aware of how God's grace removes the shame of abuse and frees them to walk in dignity and honor.

The youth of the church presented a drama about how much Christ loves us! They did the choreography themselves creating a powerful presentation. Empowering our youth to participate in ministry allows them the chance to take part in spreading the gospel from different perspectives. Age does not determine effectiveness in ministry!

The Commissioning ceremony was a significant memorial stone for these youth. Recognizing them as ambassadors for Christ strengthens their hearts for the ministry challenges ahead. Each teen lady received a scarf as her commissioning gift! Then everyone danced for hours to celebrate!
